Theodosius II

FATHER OF LANDWALLS, PROTECTING THE CİTY FROM HER ENEMIES

Theodosius ruled for 42 years (408-450 A. D.) the city, owns her existence against enemy attacks for so many conturies to this stronghold, with a ditch in front naturally filled with rain-water, and rising two parallel fortification walls, connected with towers and agap between the two lines, extending from the shoreline of the Marmara Sea, building a slight semi-circle, ending by the waters of Golden Horn, totalling a were 6 kms in length. The project is beleived to have been completed in 5 years and pierced by 7 towngates, from South to North. One of the most impressive remains from Byzantine era.

The design we have dedicated to Theodosius, bares the city surrounding walls, which have withstood so many sieges throughout history. Diadem bears inscriptions in old greek ‘’Constantinopolis” and ‘’Porta Aurea”. Visible within the crescent on the right is Galata Tower; and the other symbol of the city ‘’Leander Tower” visible within the left crescent.
